Keith Daniels, Good Neighbor Laundry & Cleaners in Fairfield, Texas has been awarded the Gerald Stavely Education Fund for the DLI School of Drycleaning Technology, Fall class session. Daniels was awarded a $2,500 scholarship to help offset the cost of attending the DLI course.
The scholarship program is named for Gerald Stavely, who was one of the pioneering members of the Southwest Drycleaners Association. On July 9th, 2016 Board members voted to honor Stavely who passed away last year, by adding an education fund in his name for the DLI Drycleaning School. Since 1927, DLI’s School of Drycleaning Technology has trained the best drycleaning business owners, operators, managers and staff by the tens of thousands.
Applicants are required to be an SDA/DLI member for at least one year and be employed by a member in one of the SDA member states: Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. SDA is the largest DLI partner of the Joint States. The SDA Education Committee selects scholarship recipients.
SDA President Doug Johnson commented, “Pairing financial support in the form of scholarships at the leading drycleaning technology school ensures that students are better equipped once they graduate and re-enter the industry workforce. SDA’s partnership with DLI plays an important role in our effort to help men and women enter into and succeed in the drycleaning industry.”
