Los Angeles Region’s Door To Door Cleaners Recognized as SD26 Small Business of the Year

At a celebratory event in Sacramento, California on August 18th, State Senator Ben Allen honored Door To Door Cleaners as Small Business of the Year for the 26th Senate District. While typically serving the Beverly Hills, Brentwood, El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Pacific Palisades, Redondo Beach, Santa Monica and West Hollywood communities with an array of textile and garment care services, the family owned and operated business pivoted during the pandemic to sew facial coverings for frontline medical workers, producing more than 5,000 homemade masks in the first two months.

Pictured at the State Capital in Sacramento are Deen Veera, Zahra Veera, Senator Ben Allen, Yasmin Veera (founder of Door to Door cleaners), Sajid Veera and Habib Veera. Three generations of Veeras in the photo.

“Our family story and this prestigious award is a testament to the fact that a California Dream is still alive,” said Sajid and Habib Veera, brothers and co-owners of Door To Door Cleaners. “We remain committed to helping local residents and serving our community – whether that means creating personal protective equipment during a pandemic or providing our traditional dry cleaning services.”

“In spite of challenging circumstances and business closures due to the pandemic, Door To Door Cleaners stepped up to meet the sudden demand for PPE by leveraging their tailoring capacity to help our heroic first responders and medical community,” said Senator Allen (D – Santa Monica). “The Veera family exemplifies commitment to community.”

For the last two decades, legislators from across California have each chosen a Small Business of the Year in their district. Former Senate District 26 Small Businesses of the Year include The Albright and Beach City Baseball.
