VERBATIM: Scott Bell

Who? Scott Bell

Where? Pasadena, California

What? A Pasadena tradition for nearly 83 years, BRYAN’S Cleaners & Laundry has established itself as one of the San Gabriel Valley’s foremost and premier garment care specialists by providing free pick-up and delivery to the home or office, excellent service and fine quality.

A large, respectable, award-winning and full-service establishment with three locations, BRYAN’S operates its facilities with the most state-of-the-art equipment and employs dedicated experts who take pride in every step of the cleaning process. Dry cleaning operators worldwide have toured their plant and retail stores to learn why BRYAN’S is one of the industry’s finest fabric care specialists.

Scott Bell’s grandfather, Garnet Bryan, started the family business in 1938. In 1952, Scott’s father, William Bell, joined his father-in-law, Garnet, in the industry. Thirty years later, Scott came on board to assist Garnet and William with the flourishing company and, for the last 28 years, has been the President of BRYAN’S Cleaners & Laundry. With Scott’s sons now working in the business, BRYAN’S has been owned and operated by the same family for four generations.

The One Thing I Try To Do On A Daily Basis Is…

Get out of bed.

My Morning Routine Is…

Wake up, go for a run or hike, go to work.

When I Was Younger, I Wanted To Be A…

I was going to be a fireman. Then I thought, I’ll really have made it if I could drive a dry cleaning delivery route.

I Avoid Distractions By…

I haven’t learned to avoid distractions. That’s my life. Maybe I’m a fireman after all, always responding to fires.

The Most Important Life Lesson I Have Learned Is…

Don’t expect life to be fair.

I Am Most At Peace When…

When I’ve taken my problems and been able to put them neatly in a box, they don’t always have to be solved; they just need to be put away, and I can stop analyzing them.

I Work To Improve Myself By…

Always having a goal I’m working towards. Usually, the benefit of the goal will lie in the process and not in obtaining the goal.

I Handle Disappointment By…

I usually find that I’m not nearly as disappointed as I imagined I would be, and that is the award in and of itself.

When I Relax, I Like To…

Sit around and read something I would have avoided at any cost when I was in school.

The Best Career Advice I Ever Received Is…

The grass is not always “greener.” Most of your problems lie with you, and in any relationship (home, work, friends), you’re going to be “bringing those problems,” whatever they may be, right along with you.

I Overcome Adversity By…

I’m not great at overcoming adversity. I think my approach is more wait and see and deal with the issues. I’m not really proactive.

My Definition Of Success Is…

Having a job in life that you’re expected to get up each morning and go to.

In 5 Years I Hope To Be…

Five years older.
